Jane was introduced to this fish dish by a friend who found it on the internet. A few little tweaks and it's perfect now! Makes a great appetizer or full meal. For an appetizer use ramekins or if serving as a meal you can use an oven safe bowl.

Ingredients of
Cod Au Gratin

  • 1.5 to 2 Lbs Cod Filet (8 filets)   
  • ½ Cup Butter
  • ½ Cup Flour
  • 2 ½ Cup Milk
  • 2 tsps Salt
  • 1 tsp Black Pepper or Long Pepper 
  • 4-5 Green Onion
  • 2 Celery Stalks
  • 1 Cup Grated Cheddar Cheese

How to Make
Cod Au Gratin

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.   
  2. Cut filet into 4 pieces, 2 filets per bowl or 1 filet per ramekin. Place cod in greased ramekins or soup bowls. 
  3. Melt butter in sauce pan, stir in flour until smooth and remove from heat. 
  4. Gradually stir in ½ the milk, return to heat and beat until thick, smooth and shiny (about 5 min). Add remaining milk, salt pepper, onion and celery. Cook stirring until thickened.  
  5. Pour sauce over cod & sprinkle with cheese. Bake until sauce bubbles and fish is cooked. About 30 minutes.
