Ingredients of
Mexican Hat Appetizer

Hats:

  • 1 pkg wonton wrappers
  • Olive oil

Filling:

  • 1 lb of seasoned ground beef (use the direction on a package of taco seasoning)
  • 1 1/2 cups of monterey jack cheese, shredded
  • 1 1/2 cups of cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup of ranch dressing
  • 1 red pepper chopped
  • 1 green pepper chopped
  • Jalapeno peppers or chillies to taste, chopped (optional)

How to Make
Mexican Hat Appetizer

Hats:

  1. Lightly brush each wonton wrapper (both sides) with olive oil and form into cups in a muffin tin. Bake at 350°F for 7 - 8 minutes (until lightly toasted). Let cool.
  2. Once cooled, I transfer the toasted cups to a disposable lasagna pan (this recipe will fill 3 pans).

Filling:

  1. Mix all the filling ingredients together in a large bowl and fill the cups (very full) with the filling. Cover with foil and they are ready to transport to your party.
  2. At your party, uncover and bake at 350°F for 10 minutes or until hot ... do not overcook or the wontons will burn.

Notes

Alternate filling (perfect for Thanksgiving or Christmas): 1 1/2 cups finely chopped cooked turkey 2/3 cup dried cranberries, finely chopped 1/3 cup whipped cream cheese.
