When Daryl and I visited Planet Hollywood by Royalton in Cancún, we decided to try out East Sushi and Teppanyaki Bar, mostly because we were curious and already a little hungry. We love good food, but we’re not exactly “flying spatulas and shouting chefs” people, so instead of joining the teppanyaki crowd, we slipped into the quieter sushi side where we could still order the same dishes without becoming part of the show. From our seats we could hear the buzz and chaos of the teppanyaki tables—lots of clattering, cheering, and who-knows-what flying through the air—while we sat peacefully with our sushi appetizers like two people who had intentionally opted out of the circus. I snapped photos because the food was genuinely good, and saving them here on OurRecipeTree lets me remember the mix of calm, comedy, and great bites that made the stop worth it. This memory matters to me because it reminds me how Daryl and I always find our own way to enjoy a place.
