Brenda Brundage never needed a recipe to make the perfect pie crust—just a quiet kitchen, a handful of familiar ingredients, and a lifetime of love. With each roll of the pin and pinch of the dough, she recreated the method her mother once used, passing along not only technique but tenderness. This crust became the foundation for the pies she baked for her beloved husband, Bill. It was never just about dessert—it was about care, comfort, and the kind of devotion that shows up in the little things. This recipe is more than a crust; it’s the base of a lifelong love story.

  1. Mix dry ingredients in a bowl.
  2. In a 1/2 cup add the egg and vinegar then add enough cold water to fill the 1/2 cup measuring cup and mix in a bowl. Set aside.
  3. Cut in lard with pastry cutter or forks until you have coarse crumbs the consistency of oatmeal.
  4. Add your egg mixture and stir with a fork to mix in your dry ingredients.
  5. Try not to over mix it.
